Why the body matters in healing
Somatic refers to our full-body, whole person experience—our senses, emotions, imagination, action, meaning-making and more subtle aspects.
While insight is important, it's not always enough to generate positive shifts in our lives and relationships. When we can feel something different, new possibilities and choices emerge.
As a Somatic therapist, I help you attune to and work with what is stored in your nervous system so your lived experience can shift.
“80% or more of health conditions are autonomic nervous system events.”
—James Jealous
I approach somatic therapy with the understanding that healing arises through connection—connection with yourself, with your body, and with the living world around you. Trauma leaves traces not only in memory, but in the body. Somatic work invites you back into relationship with the wisdom stored there, gently unwinding patterns of pain, disconnection, and survival. Together, we cultivate a space of presence, trust, and curiosity where you can feel deeply understood. This work is not only about healing trauma; it is about remembering your body’s inherent capacity for balance, growth, and resilience as you live and move in the present.
Shift the lived experience
When the body settles, the mind settles
When chronic tension softens, people rediscover that feeling can be pleasurable, safe, and positive
When old activation patterns release, new narratives become possible
When a protective part softens, relationships change
When the nervous system reorganizes, people feel more choice, freedom, and joy
When somatic states shift, stories can change and identity shifts
It’s a transformation that’s not just conceptual—it’s something the client feels in their body, behavior, relationships, and daily life.
